1. What This Website Is

Cherokee County Criminal History is an independent reference site. It does not keep official records and cannot retrieve them, run an official check, or submit paperwork for a visitor.

Its role is to identify the public offices and systems that maintain Cherokee County information, including the Sheriff, District and Superior Courts, the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation, and the North Carolina Sex Offender Registry, along with optional third-party research tools.

2. Rules for Using This Site

By using the site, you agree not to:

• Violate federal, North Carolina, or local law
• Stalk, intimidate, threaten, or harass another person
• Use information for hiring, housing, credit, or insurance decisions
• Attempt unauthorized entry into any system or account
• Deploy bots, scrapers, or automated collection tools on these pages
• Interfere with site performance or another visitor’s access

3. No Harassment, Stalking, or Discrimination

You may not use information from these pages or linked tools to threaten, stalk, harass, intimidate, or discriminate against anyone. This restriction is especially important for North Carolina Sex Offender Registry data. North Carolina’s Article 27A authorizes a public-safety registry and warns that threatening, stalking, intimidating, or harassing a registrant can result in prosecution. The information is not a basis for vigilantism, employment blacklisting, or housing discrimination.

4. We Are Not a Consumer Reporting Agency

We do not produce consumer reports, credit files, or background checks and are not a consumer reporting agency under the FCRA. Neither the site nor its advertising partners offers a product designed to evaluate a job applicant, rental applicant, insured person, or borrower. You agree not to use site or linked-tool data to:

• Make a hiring or termination decision
• Evaluate a renter or housing application
• Set credit terms or insurance premiums
• Decide eligibility for a license, permit, benefit, or government program
• Carry out any other FCRA-regulated activity

A legally compliant check for a regulated purpose must come from the appropriate official agency or an FCRA-compliant provider.

5. No Legal Advice

Site content is general information, not legal advice. It cannot determine how a Cherokee County charge, warrant, judgment, or expunction statute applies to a particular person. Consult a lawyer licensed in North Carolina for advice.

6. No Warranties

The website and its contents are supplied “as is.” We make no promise that:

• Any page is complete, accurate, or current
• Access will always be available or uninterrupted
• The pages contain no defects or security weakness
• A partner tool will return complete or correctly matched results

Criminal records can change after a filing, dismissal, correction, restriction, or expunction. Always verify current information with Murphy Police, the Cherokee County Sheriff, the Clerk, or another originating office.

Links may point to government offices, the North Carolina eCourts Portal, agencies, legal resources, or outside search providers. Those services control their content, privacy practices, availability, and charges. We are not responsible for any of those matters, so review the destination’s terms before using it.

8. Intellectual Property

Unless otherwise stated, the text, graphics, branding, and code belong to Cherokee County Criminal History or its content partners. Copying, changing, redistributing, or creating derivative work from that material requires prior written permission.

9. Limits on Our Liability

To the greatest extent permitted by law, we are not responsible for loss or damage arising from use of the site, reliance on its information, or use of an outside service reached through a link.

10. Indemnification

You agree to defend and hold us harmless from claims, demands, proceedings, expenses, and reasonable legal fees caused by your use of the site or your violation of these terms.

11. Governing Law

North Carolina law governs these terms, including applicable principles of the North Carolina Unfair and Deceptive Trade Practices Act, G.S. 75-1.1. A dispute connected with the website must be brought in a court with proper jurisdiction in North Carolina.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may revise these conditions. A revision becomes effective when the updated text is posted on this page.

13. Cutting Off Access

We may suspend, limit, or terminate access at any time and without advance notice.

14. Severability

If a court finds one provision invalid or unenforceable, all remaining provisions continue in effect. The affected language will be narrowed only as needed to make it enforceable.
